I loved My Perfect Wedding. Main character Helen Grey has moved to Cypress with her fiancé, Kalem. The fun starts right away when the two are detained at the airport because Helen has played a joke on Kalem. Once things get sorted out, they are on their way to their wedding and the adventure of a lifetime. Helen uncovers an assassination plot that includes the theft of a priceless bust of Cleopatra. Complications threaten to not only cost Helen her perfect wedding, but land her in jail.

Helen is funny and witty and I laughed out loud at some of her one-liners. This a screwball comedy of a book, so the main plot with the criminals and the way Helen tries to prevent the crime, while implausible, don't detract at all from the story. They are part of the fun. Think Lucy and Ethel or Laverne and Shirley over the top madness. One of my favorite scenes from My Perfect Wedding occurs when Helen pretends to be a hooker to stop the bad guy. Very funny.

Ms. Hodge has a very readable style and a knack for good storytelling. She also did a great job describing the setting. By the end of the book she had me ready to book a vacation to Cypress.

A page-turner book. Highly recommended.
Love the Sibel Hodge thought process..! Very funny, "I Love Lucy" moments with a bit of anxiety thrown in for good measure. Would make a fun mini-series with the first book Fourteen Days Later which has the same set of characters.
This book is such a good read I can hardly put it down. I was especially delighted at the mystery part of this book ( nice twist)in what I thought was just a romantic comedy! Love it. I will be sad once I am finished reading this wonderful book.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was silly, quirky, funny and kept me highly entertained. I will have to check out more in this series and from this author. I went into it expecting cheesy, slightly funny romantic comedy and got quirky international thriller with lots of interesting factoids about Cyprus.
First off, this is the second book in a series. The first one is Fourteen Days Later (Romantic Comedy). You don't have to have read the first one to enjoy this one, though I'd recommend the first one just because it's also entertaining. Yes, the situations that the main character, (Helen) gets herself into can seem a bit over the top, but it does call itself a romantic comedy, and it's fiction, so I can't say I was expecting anything but an entertaining read. It's nice to have something light and funny to read sometimes, after all!

Helen can be rather foolish at times, and occasionally a bit shallow, but she is for the most part an entertaining character. Given the fact that she's not a complete idiot like some characters I've seen/read, I don't mind her occasionally foolishness - it really does prove entertaining for the most part. (There are similar characters in other books and movies that I've enjoyed that have also been somewhat foolish - if you're watching or reading something that's a romantic comedy, someone is bound to be somewhat silly.) You do have to occasionally wonder just how she can believe some of the things she comes to believe (the burka thing, for instance), but that's part of what makes some things in this book so funny. Kalem is also a nicely grounding force in her life, something she desperately needs at times. And his parents are just way to entertaining with their minor bits here and there.

The flaws I found with the first book are for the most part non-existent here. The slang is pretty much confined to the speech of the characters instead of being peppered through the description of things, so it doesn't stick out strangely to me in this one as it occasionally did in the first one. (It seems natural when it's the characters using it, after all.) It's a funny, light-hearted read that I'd definitely recommend, and I'm glad we got to see more of Helen and Kalem (and his family) in this book!
I don't really remember this series except I read them all and enjoyed them.
WOW!! What a great book!! I loved it so much that I started it in the morning at the beach and finished the same day...got a little red because I didn't take time to even put on sunscreen because I couldn't stop reading. I LOVED how Hodge created a little mystery in the romance along with the comedy. It was a great mix of my favorite genres all wrapped up into one! I was laughing out loud in some of the situations Helen found herself in and the jokes they played on eachother. It was so much fun and a great genre twist on a fantastic romantic comedy!!
