Paradise Point is exactly what I like to read on the beach or by the pool! I am total and complete sucker for a romantic suspense with a feisty heroine and a hero with a military background. Volney even throws in one of my very favorite twists. Liv and Adam are both lovable and relatable. I was rooting for them the whole way. Volney's characters always immediately draw me in and make me feel like they are my friends. I'd love another Adam and Liv story, or anything else from Paradise Point!

There's a lot to love in Volney's latest work of fiction. And Adam Lark is just one of the many delicious offerings (check out cover) in this well-paced, engaging story set against the backdrop of sunny San Diego, California. There are many twists and surprises that culminate with action-packed sequences that satisfy the reader on multiple levels. Pick up "Paradise Point," throw down a beach towel, settle beneath the sun, and get reading!
LIV BARNETTE finally got the push she needed to switch things up and enjoy her life again. Relaxing in the sun on her new houseboat and absorbing the fresh air was a bonus. The view next door wasn’t bad either.
“Such a shame my new hot neighbor has an attitude problem”
ADAM LARK didn’t come back to enjoy the sun and fresh air. He’s back to meet the person who weaseled their way into part ownership of his grandmother’s marina and get back to work as soon as possible.
Learning to work together and live near each other is no easy task. When people from Liv’s past start to show up, everything inside Adam tells him he needs to protect her. Does he feel this way because of work, or because of something more? And will Adam be there to protect her when she needs it most?
Volney’s characters fit perfectly together. Liv’s feisty attitude and Adam’s cool demeanor will put a smile on your face. They might even have you blushing as you think of a time or two when you did or said something similar. I know I did )
There are a few twists in the story that will have you quickly turning the page and her beautiful descriptions will have you wishing you were in a place as breathtaking as Coronado Island.
If you enjoy danger mixed with falling in love, Paradise Point is the book for you!
Liv Barnett may not like swimming, but she’s ready to dive into her new life when the chance presents itself.
What I loved about Liv was her feisty character. She’s such a wonderful person I instantly found myself rooting for her and wanting for her bad luck to change. When we first meet her, her life is headed nowhere, and she’s not even sure where she wants it to go. But then the wise and friendly Vam makes sure her life is turned upside down when she bequeaths Liv half of Paradise Point marina.
When Adam shows up to see for himself who his co-owner of the Marina is, the chemistry between him and Liv just jumps off the page. Their scenes are so skillfully written that I couldn’t get enough of them, even their initial animosity screams ‘attraction’. The dialogue is witty and natural, the narrative flows nicely, including beautiful descriptions of nature and the marina. The plot is fast-paced and although some of the events at first seem slightly unbelievable, they tie in with the overarching story in the end, making it a well-plotted and intriguing novel.
I love that the protagonists of the story, although single and with no immediate plans to change that fact, are not presented as people who’ve sworn against relationships, but are single simply because life happened that way. It makes their relationship far more believable and sweet. The initial tension between them grows into a hot passion, and the author shows that wonderfully. Their scenes are not too sweet, not awkward or forced, they’re just right. Like Adam and Liv are just right for each other, their characters complementing each other well. Where Liv is determined, energetic and loving, Adam is extremely well-trained in his job but not overbearing or pushy because of it. He knows when he’s lost and he certainly loses when Liv turns on her charm. Not that Liv isn’t feeling lightheaded when Adam comes to her rescue. Several times.
The action and suspense only add to the emotional intensity of the story, making it a fulfilling, well-written experience.
Despite the novel being short, it doesn’t lack anything. If you’re looking for a quick fix of strong emotions, passion and action, this is it. I’ll certainly add this author’s work on my TBR list.

The heroine, Liv Barnette, is a feisty woman trying to tackle life on her own terms. When she is teamed to run a marina with Adam Lark, they immediately clash and distrust each other. However, just as their relationship stars to warm and they discover an attraction to each other, intrigue appears in the form of Liv's old boss who is out to recover a mysterious black bag that he hid on Liv's houseboat. When Adam discovers what's going on, it may be too late to save Liv. This book starts out as a fun read as Liv and Adam discover their attraction to each other, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat before the book is over. You won't be able to put this one down.
A delightful read! Volney just keeps getting better and better. Heart stopping action with a funny spunky heroine and brooding hero. Love, love Volney's story telling. Can't wait for the next one!
I really enjoyed this book. The characters and the story. Kept my interest.
