Blood Moon was a fast read in a very good, with expert-level pacing (something I value a great deal). Action, events, emotional dialogue, and mystery were all balanced and juggled delightfully. I particularly enjoyed the simple yet intriguing magic system, and the attention to the fictional history of the town in which most the events take place. The novel felt very "generational," which a lot to learn about the families of several characters.

I personally didn't care for the main heroine and hero that much, as they felt like your average, just-trying-to-live-a-normal-life teens with good intensions. The were more passive, along-for-the-ride type characters, rather that the more complex, troubled, imperfect, active and goal-oriented type that I prefer. However, I imagine as Y.A. this is by design, enabling a reader to join in with the character, connect with them easier, and go along for the ride with them. Therefore, although the novel isn't 5 star for me, it may just as well be for you (or a young adult in you life) depending on preference.

Immediately in the beginning the two leads fall deeply, and inexplicably in love. Their love story is more of a mystery all its own (which gets answered, don't worry). You'd expect the fun in a love story to come through the process of falling in love, however I thought magical attraction was an interesting way to approach the common theme.

The antagonists were also straight forward baddies, however they were very active, shockingly so, which was a refreshing contrast. Unfortunately their evil wasn't even partially justified, more of a straight forward lust for power.

The supporting characters were perhaps the best, from Willa's ghost friend to the two witches running the light coven, Wynter and Roland. Somehow, I fell myself wanting more of them.

Overall the plot was a tad predictable, yet forceful, dragging you and the characters along with it into increasingly hopeless situations, which made it quite the page turner.

Teri Harman did an excellent job with her debut novel, BLOOD MOON. It is a fresh new spin on good vs. evil with a clever cast of characters. I loved losing myself in this story and can't wait for the second installment in the series.
Well written. You will fall in love with the characters. Who will finally win when the trilogy is over----good or evil??? Once I started this book I had to finish. I can hardly wait for the next one.
Well thought-out characters and plot line about witches good and bad. Heavy on action and romance, ghosts and family. Can’t wait for the blood moon.

I have read a lot from this genre recently and some of the young adult fiction can get really juvenile or too focused on the main characters' relationship that the story is forgotten. This book was well written and had such a good story line that the plot moved quick enough to keep a reader engaged. The descriptions used for people, places and things painted a picture that was clear and I really felt like I could see what the writer wanted me to see. The relationships were well developed and not forced which is so important to really make you care about the characters and what ultimately happens to them. I could not stop reading because I felt a connection to all the characters and wanted to know how it would all end up. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!
I really enjoyed this book, and the way in which the author has used witches and magic. I like the obvious research she has done to base her mythology on, and I loved the characters. Even the different POV wasn't bad, and I'm not always a fan of that. The author also has some fabulous descriptions, which I loved. )

I also loved the fact that there's no love triangle, and that the characters connection was so strong. Its nice to read a book where the love story can be something other than a girl trying to decide between two boys.
